Self Statement

I'm an educator that focuses on music theory in classical music. As a four year music theory major, I have an interest in researching 20th and 21st century music and music from underrepresented composers. My goal is to pursue a masters and PhD in music theory to teach music theory at an undergraduate or graduate program.

about

Bio

I am a flute player who is studying Music Theory and Flute Performance at Stetson University. My music theory research and performances focus on 20th to 21st century music and music from underrepresented composers, particularly Latin composers. Currently, I am working on my undergrad Music Theory thesis which is about Joropo. It specifically talks about its origins, influences, and the role of Joropo in contemporary classical music. My goal is to pursue a masters degree in Music Theory as well as a PhD to be able to teach Music Theory in a graduate or an undergraduate program. To accomplish this, I want to continue to do research in the Music Theory field focusing on dance music from Latin and other underrepresented composers within the sphere of classical music. In addition to this, I want to keep learning more about Music Theory pedagogy while pursuing higher education in the field of Music Theory.
